The Perfecting Carnatic Music Level 1: PART D course provides a comprehensive introduction to simple musical forms called geetams, which seamlessly blend both melody and rhythm while incorporating lyrics. Geetams are composed at either first or second speeds, featuring uncomplicated tunes and lyrics, and they also serve as an introduction to the concept of ragas. Upon completing this module, students will gain the ability to understand the process of learning and presenting simple compositions, with a focus on raga lakshana, raga key phrases, swara, gamakas, lyric segmentation, and tala. This course also contains 2 swarajatis. Swarajathis are more sophisticated musical forms which are longer and typically composed in third speed. Swarajatis typically have a pallavi and multiple charanams which are rendered once in swara and once with sahitya. (Lyrics) Notations are included.
