A tillana is a moderately fast-paced rhythm-centered composition performed towards the end of the concert. Tillanas predominantly contain rhythmic syllables called jathis/solkattus set to a melodic framework. Though Tillanas contain lyrics, they typically appear in the last segment of the Tillana in the charanam. Tillanas are a major feature of dance performances as well.
